Advancements in air navigation systems strongly require the provision of advanced aeronautical meteorological information, which better supports both the safety and efficiency of rapidly growing air transportation, as described in the Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP).
Technological innovations in the field of meteorology over the recent decades, such as launches of a new generation of meteorological satellites and the introduction of higher-performance numerical weather prediction systems, provide great opportunities to further enhance aeronautical meteorological information to support operational decision-making in every specific scenario, including departure and landing, flight and route planning, and air traffic flow management (ATFM).
The presentation will cover foreseen and evolving developments of aeronautical meteorological service, which enable the provision of high-quality, high-resolution meteorological information in a more harmonized and quantitative manner. The presentation will also discuss challenges in the evolution of delivery methods under the SWIM environment and the potential use of emerging techniques for the provision of future meteorological services.
