This year the ICAO observance of the International Women’s Day under the theme of “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” will be marked by two Panel Discussions on Tuesday, 8 March 2022.
Sustainability and environmental concerns are some of the most pressing issues of our times, and women have a significant role to play in identifying, planning and promoting sustainable pathways and solutions for the benefit of the all. In the context of aviation, celebration of the International Women’s Day under this theme is an opportune moment to focus on the opportunities and challenges of advancing sustainability imperatives in the sector, and recognize women’s contributions towards the technological and innovative upgrades and accelerations in aviation. It also allows for a renewed commitment towards gender equality in line with the Sustainable Development Goal 5 and ICAO Resolution A39-30, as we look forward to building a more resilient and sustainable future for our industry as the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
