The "Roundtable: Advancing the GASeP with Renewed Ambition" serves as a dynamic forum for exchanging ideas, experiences, and best practices among experts, stakeholders and the industry, with the aim of creating a sense of ownership of the GASeP, taking action and bringing progressive improvements.
The dialogue will catalyse impactful actions and solutions to build enhanced and common awareness of GASeP, its Global Priority Areas, and on the importance of achieving its aspirational goal and associated milestones.
6:00-6:15 - Opening
-The event will be opened by Mr. Hamad Al-Muhairi, Assistant Director General, GCAA, United Arab Emirates and a welcome message by Ms. Sonia Hifdi, Chief, Aviation Security Policy Section and Secretary of AVSEC Panel.
6:15-6:30 - Overview of GASeP
An overview of GASeP delivered by Mr. Ricardo Fernandes, Aviation Security Senior Officer, ANAC, Portugal, and AVSEC Panel Vice-Chairperson and Rapporteur of Task Force on the GASeP.
6:30-7:30 - Global Priorities - Scene setting presentations
-Speakers will deliver a short ice-breaker presentation starting with GASeP Global Priority 1 through 6. These presentations aim to build enhanced and
common awareness of GASeP, its Global Priority Areas, and on the importance of achieving its aspirational goal and associated milestones.
7:30-8:00 - Global Priorities - Panel discussions
-Following speakers' presentations is focused and engaging discussions in a roundtable setting moderated by Mr. Ricardo Fernandes (ANAC, Portugal), guided by the following questions that were shared in advance:
a) What is the distinctive value and contribution of Global Priorities 1 through 6 towards achieving the GASeP aspirational goal?
b) How can GASeP be harnessed as part of each State’s national aviation security planning?
8:15-8:45 - Panel discussion on sharing of experiences
-Moderated by Mr. Oliver Homewood (DfT, United Kingdom), speakers will share their experiences, identify common challenges and strategize ways of turning those challenges into opportunities. The discussion will be guided by the following questions that were shared in advance:
a) What are some initiatives your State or Organization have had on making progress on GASeP?
b) What lessons can the world learn from these initiatives?
8:45-8:50 - Conclusion
-Wrap up by ICAO and the host State to include a brief summary of the outcomes of the roundtable, which will serve as input for future GASeP advocacy eXorts and for the preparations of the major event taking place during ICAO Security Week 2024 in Muscat, Oman (9 to 12 December 2024).
