On Thursday, 3 July, the Environment team at ICAO organized a virtual side event in the form of a panel discussion during the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4). The session, titled “Sustainable Aviation – Challenges and Opportunities in the Pursuit of the Net Zero 2050 Goal for International Aviation”, brought together high-level representatives from ICAO, international organizations, and the aviation industry.
The discussion explored initiatives within the aviation sector to reduce emissions, the challenges in securing financing, and opportunities for enhanced international cooperation. A key focus was placed on supporting developing countries and States with specific needs, in line with ICAO’s No Country Left Behind initiative.
