The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Aviation Award (SMBRGAA) honours research that accelerates the development and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through significant monetary prizes and industry recognition. The award is open to undergraduates, postgraduates, and research institutions. The various category winners will be announced at the upcoming ICAO 42nd Assembly.
With a combined $1,000,000 USD in prizes for undergraduates and postgraduates, and a trophy and certificate for winning research institutes, the SMBRGAA aims to honor and inspire the next wave of aviation sustainability innovators and lay the academic foundation for future SAF solutions.

Established in 2016, the SMBRGAA aims to shine light on States, Business Organizations and Individuals around the world, by recognizing their contribution to the success of aviation industry. This triennial award reflects UAE’s commitment to promote aviation and the support to ICAO’s ‘No Country Left Behind’ initiative.
