Acronyms : European Coordination Centre for Accident and Incident Reporting Systems (ECCAIRS)
ECCAIRS, with the full implementation of the ADREP taxonomy, has been used by ICAO as the database and report management tool, in order to implement its Accident/Incident Data Reporting (ADREP) system, since 2004. The common ADREP taxonomy facilitates data sharing, streamlines data collection, and enhances classification. The original ECCAIRS package, developed by the European Union, was decommissioned and a new version, ECCAIRS 2, was developed and implemented by EASA. The new version has moved from outdated technology/software with high maintenance cost and UI limitations, to an application that uses modern technology and industry best practices for cybersecurity. ICAO adopted ECCAIRS 2 in 2025 and as of November, formally opened it to Member States for accident/incident reporting in 2025.
