Presented by ICAO
Speaker: Ms. Deniz Kaymak
This Skytalk offers a detailed overview of ICAO’s State Action Plan (SAP) initiative—a voluntary program launched in 2010 to assist States in reducing CO₂ emissions from international aviation. The session outlines the objectives and benefits of SAPs, their essential role in monitoring progress toward ICAO’s Long-Term Aspirational Goal (LTAG) of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, and the importance of integrating Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Lower Carbon Aviation Fuels (LCAF), and other cleaner energies into action plans.
SAPs are not only a roadmap for emissions reduction—they are the entry tools to ICAO’s support mechanisms, including ACT-SAF technical assistance and FINVEST financing opportunities. By including clear, quantified data and cleaner energy strategies in their plans, States can position themselves to access feasibility studies, capacity-building programs, and funding for SAF projects.
This Skytalks provides insights into global progress, regional participation, and practical steps for leveraging these resources. Real-world examples demonstrate how States are successfully aligning national strategies with ICAO’s Global Framework for cleaner aviation energy—turning climate ambitions into actionable results.
