Presented by ICAO
Speaker: Mr. Robert Boyd
The Finvest SkyTalk presented ICAO’s new global initiative to accelerate financing for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and low-carbon aviation energy, with a particular focus on ensuring that no country is left behind. The talk highlighted the background to Finvest, including the links to Assembly Resolutions A41-21 and A41-22. These resolutions call on ICAO to support States in achieving the Long-Term Global Aspirational Goal (LTAG) and to promote the enabling conditions needed for a resilient, climate-aligned aviation sector. Recent progress was highlighted, including the establishment of the ICAO Finvest Website and identifying challenges that Finvest aims to address.
Finvest intends to support SAF projects by connecting States, project developers, and investors through technical assistance, policy support, and a structured ‘match-making’ process that improves project quality and reduces risk. The talk concluded with an explanation of the ICAO-IRENA matchmaking hub and the project requirements to access.
