Presented by ICAO
Speakers: Ms. Nevin Murad
In this SkyTalk, we explored the evolution and future potential of the Online Airworthiness Information Network (OAIN), ICAO’s digital platform designed to strengthen global aviation safety. Originally established as Circular 95 in 1968, OAIN has now been completely rebuilt and modernized into a fully online tool that enables States to meet their Annex 8 obligations and efficiently manage continuing airworthiness information worldwide.
The presentation highlighted how OAIN streamlines the distribution of urgent airworthiness directives, enhances information sharing among States of Design, Manufacture, and Registry, and increases transparency around national import requirements. These capabilities support safer, faster cross-border operations and help regulators effectively oversee aircraft throughout their entire operational life.
With its modernization, OAIN is now positioned to play an even more strategic role, particularly in aircraft transfers, leasing arrangements, and the management of a rapidly globalizing aviation fleet. The SkyTalk emphasized how the rebuilt OAIN application can further enable collaboration, reduce administrative burdens, and contribute to a more resilient and interconnected airworthiness ecosystem.
