Recent technological innovations in the meteorology field provide great opportunities for the provision of enhanced meteorological support for various operational scenarios including all phases of aircraft operations ― departure/landing, flight planning, and ATM/ATFM. Transition from product-centric service to quantitative, globally harmonized and digitalized information services is a fundamental enabler to realize integrated use of meteorological information in aeronautical user's decision-making systems, as envisaged in ICAO GANP (Doc 9750). The optimization of route/flight planning and air traffic flow management using advanced meteorological information will also significantly contribute to the reduction of carbon fuel consumption.
