Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and Lower Carbon Aviation Fuel (LCAF) are of crucial importance to unlock a sustainable future for aviation and contribute to ICAO’s goals on climate change. However, there are challenges to increase SAF /LCAF use, for example the current price gap with conventional fuels. This highlights the need for effective policies to enable further use of SAF/LCAF.
To contribute to this discussion, this meeting of the ICF addressed the current industry achievements on SAF/LCAF, and its expectations for the future, including the expectations from the next ICAO Assembly. The objective is to allow Industry to provide inputs to the Council, facilitating the definition of an ICAO strategic vision for SAF/LCAF.
