Modern Safety Management Frameworks and Practical Applications
Latest Videos • 14m
Our subject today is ‘Modern Safety Management Frameworks and Practical Applications’. Aviation’s approach to achieving and maintaining high safety levels has been constantly evolving. Checking for compliance against prescriptive regulations evolved into assessing performance with reference to objective regulations. In support of this evolution, safety management techniques have evolved too. In this ANC Talk, we look at some of the challenges that point to the need for further evolution and hear about one approach that aims to address these challenges – MIT’s STAMP (System-Theoretic Accident Model and Processes) framework. In this ANC Talk, we will get an overview of STAMP and hear about the experience being gained in its practical use in aviation. This should assist ANC as it contemplates how the future safety management regulatory environment might need to evolve.
